DAY ONE
Morning
Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre is where you can free-fall down a six metre slide, experience an earthquake or challenge a robot to a game of air hockey. Little scientists will enjoy Mini Q as they play, discover and learn in a gallery just for 0-6 year olds.
No visit is complete without watching or starring in a Spectacular Science Show.
Lunch
Why not let someone else do the catering for you, and enjoy spending time together! Schmicnics can create your perfect picnic! Hampers are freshly prepared, packaged into disposable boxes, and include plates, cutlery and napkins! All you have to do is pick up from their Barton location (not far from Questacon or the National Gallery) and enjoy.
The perfect picnic spot, located close to both Questacon and the National Gallery, are the rose gardens at the Museum of Modern Democracy. The rose gardens were established in the 1930s and it’s here you’ll find seating pavilions, wisteria arbours, wooden trellises and open lawns.

NGA Cartier Children’s Trail
To complement the enduring style of Cartier, the NGA children’s trail concept for the Cartier: The Exhibition pays homage to one of Cartier’s most famous elements - the intricate articulated movement of many of the pieces including the stunning emerald necklace.
The trail is an infinity flipper, a folded paper construction that turns in on itself in an endless circle. One image turning into the next in an infinite loop.
The trail also highlights another striking element of Cartier style - the remarkable stones that star in the exhibition.
Dinner
End the day with dinner at Brodburger – a burger establishment with humble beginnings as a red gypsy food van, and is now a bustling eatery with indoor and outdoor dining serving up flame-grilled gourmet burgers.
DAY TWO
Morning
National Zoo & Aquarium is where you can get up close and personal with some of the world’s most amazing creatures. With a wide variety of native and exotic animals and the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia, there’s something for everyone.
Lunch
For a casual lakeside experience, grab some fish and chips from Snapper on the Lake at the Canberra Yacht Club in Yarralumla.
Afternoon
KSpace @ The National Museum of Australia where children will build their own time-travelling robot then blast off to explore a mystery location in Australia’s past. The National Museum of Australia is a wonderful place to connect as family, by enjoying the fun, intergenerational, hands-on learning that is both entertaining and educational, and linked to the collection.
Dinner
Marble & Grain offers a true gastronomic journey and dynamic delight for the senses. This award winning European Steakhouse Gastro Pub has a paddock to the plate philosophy, with a menu infused with passion and love.
DAY THREE
Morning
Let the kids roar as they wander through the lifelike models in the Dinosaur Garden at one of the largest displays of dinosaurs and prehistoric life in Australia at the National Dinosaur Museum. Fun for all ages, you’ll take a journey through time, from the Earth’s very beginnings and follow the evolution of life.
Lunch
Stop for a tea break at George Harcourt Inn. The George welcomes those of all ages, and is a great spot to grab a pub meal and let the kids run around outside, and even throw their hand at the giant jenga!
Afternoon
For an experience you will not find anywhere else, visit Cockington Green Gardens. Venture into this delightful and fascinating display of meticulously crafted miniature buildings, houses and monuments from more than 30 countries. Be prepared to be captivated by this enchanting world of tiny people and tiny structures, and there is also a miniature steam train ride for everyone!
